Thedifference between phases is 208V rather than 240V because they are 120 degrees out of phase, not 180. You have 208V single phase between any 2 phases. To get 240V you need a transformer
ProductSupport 208V vs 220V vs 240V Explained All our single-phase 220V motors will operate on either a 208V or 240V nominal power supply, which are the most common
ASatchell 2000W geyser element, rated at 220V has a resistance of 22.8Ohm. With a constant resistance, if you apply 230V, it will consume 10.08A and produce 2320W. At 220V :: 9.65A & 2122W and at 240V :: 10.53A & 2526W.
With240v you use the same gauge wire to draw twice as much power (watts) of a 120v line on the same wire. For example if you have a 15 AMP 120v circuit this provides 1800 watts (15 x 120 = 1800). To do so you need a 14/2 wire. However with that same 14/2 wire on a 240v circuit you get 3600 watts (240 x 15 = 3600).
Batteriesrun at 12V or 24V. Using this equation, we can convert watts directly to amps, if we know the voltage. The higher the wattage, the lower the amps will be for the same amount of watts. Examples: 1 amp is equal to 220 watts at 220V voltage. 1 amp is equal to 110 watts at 110V voltage. 1 amp is equal to 120 watts at 120V voltage.
5 It is actually quite simple. It the nameplate states Δ/Y 220/380 this means that this motor is designed and can be connected in delta, if the line voltage is 220 volts. If the line voltage is 380 V then the motor can be connected in star. This comes from the fact, that the the max allowed voltage per motor winding is 220 volts.
Somehousehold equipment may call for 240 volts. When many of us see a specification for 208 volts, it gets confusing. What is the difference between 208-volt and 240-volt? 240-volt is single-phase power, while 208-volt is 3-phase power. Phase refers to the method of delivery of the power load. 3 phase requires 3 wires.
Iknow this is an old post, but there really is a very easy solution. Easy Solution: buy a fused transformer that takes 110/120V 60Hz input and changes it to European 220/240V with 60Hz output. Mine has a standard European plug for its output. Works fine-the tools can tolerate the frequency difference just fine.
